Maryland Statewide Human Monkeypox (MPX) Vaccination Pre-Registration System

The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) has released the Maryland Statewide Human Monkeypox (MPX) Vaccination Pre-Registration System, enabling Marylanders to sign up to be notified when an MPX vaccine opportunity becomes available. The system continues state and local efforts to mitigate the spread of MPX and keep Marylanders safe.

Vaccination pre-registration is intended for Maryland residents who are either self-identified close contacts of a person with MPX or impacted community members with potential MPX exposures in the prior two weeks. Registrants who are determined eligible for the vaccine will receive an email invitation to make an appointment through their local health department. Residents can click here to reach the Maryland MPX Vaccination Pre-Registration System or visit health.maryland.gov/monkeypox

The JYNNEOS vaccine has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for protection against the MPX virus in people who have been exposed to MPX and people who are more likely to get MPX. Vaccination isn’t recommended for the general public for the prevention of MPX. To date, Maryland has received 14,539 vials of the vaccine. As more of the vaccine becomes available, vaccination eligibility criteria may expand.

People who have symptoms of MPX should contact their healthcare provider even if they don’t think they’ve had contact with someone who has MPX. Those without a healthcare provider or health insurance can visit the MDH website to find a local health department.
