Primary Adult Care Program

What is PAC?
  • The Maryland Physicians Care's Primary Adult Care Program, or PAC for short, offers health services to people age 19 and over that meet the state of Maryland qualifications of the program.
  • PAC is a combination of two programs:
         • Maryland Pharmacy Assistance Program
         • Maryland Primary Care Program
  • The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene administers Maryland Primary Adult Care.
Qualifications of PAC:
  • Age - 19 or older
  • Income and Asset - Based upon the same income and asset limits as the previous Maryland Pharmacy Assistance Program.
    • Individual - Income 116% of Federal Poverty Level and no more than $4,000 in assets.
    • Family Income 116% of Federal Poverty Level and no more than $6,000 in assets.
  • Not eligible for Medicare or full Medicaid benefits. If 65 or older must prove that they are not eligible for Medicare
  • Must re-apply annually(every year)

  • Prescription drugs with limited copay
  • Some over-the-counter drugs with a prescription
  • limited lab and radiology services (Provider may only refer members for lab and radiology services on the approved lists contained in the PAC provider Manual)

  • Education and nutrition
  • Most equipment and supplies
  • Eye exams by an eye doctor and one pair of glasses every year
  • Foot care when medically needed
When you become a Maryland Physicians Care Primary Adult Care Member you will receive in the mail:
  • Maryland Physicians Care PAC ID card
  • Primary Care Provider (PCP) listing
  • Member handbook
  • Welcome letter
  • Privacy Notice
  • Authorized Representative form
  • Welcome Newsletter
  • New Member Benefit and Service letter
