away so the health plan may begin a maternity care program. Simply send an e-mail

Maryland Physicians Care supports pregnant women with a special program to help
them stay healthy throughout their pregnancies and make sure they get the health
care services they need.
For members thinking about getting pregnant, Maryland Physicians Care offers pre-conception
counseling to help give babies the best possible start in life. If a member is already
pregnant, she can expect:
- Education on nutrition, stages of pregnancy, childbirth preparation, sibling preparation
and what mom can expect once the baby is born
- Regular medical care during and after pregnancy
- Information, if needed, on supplemental nutrition programs such as WIC, dental care,
child health services and family planning
- The opportunity for Pregnant women newly enrolled with Maryland Physicians Care
can remain with the doctor they were seeing before they enrolled, even if that doctor
is not part of Maryland Physicians Care’s network of providers. They can continue
to see that doctor through their pregnancy, delivery, and for two months after their
baby is born for follow-up.
